The Golden State Warriors have had over 600 players don the more than 60 jersey numbers used by their players over the more than 75 years of existence the team has enjoyed in its rich and storied history.
Founded in 1946 during the Basketball Association of America (BAA — a precursor league of the NBA) era, the team has called home the cities of Philadelphia, San Francisco, Oakland, and even San Diego.
To commemorate the players who wore those numbers, Warriors Wire is covering the entire history of jersey numbers and the players who sported them since the founding of the team. For this article, we begin with the first of 10 players who wore the No. 31 jersey for the Warriors.
That player would be Golden State big man alum Mikki Moore. After ending his college career at Nebraska, Moore would go unselected in the 1997 NBA Draft, instead playing in the D-League NBA’s D League (as the G League was then known as) and abroad until he signed with the Detroit Pistons in 1999.
The Orangeburg, South Carolina native would play the first four seasons of his NBA career with the Pistons. He also played for the Boston Celtics, Atlanta Hawks, (then) New Jersey (now, Brooklyn) Nets, Utah Jazz, Los Angeles Clippers, Seattle SuperSonics, Sacramento Kings, and Boston again before he signed with the Dubs for the final two seasons of his career.
During his time suiting up for the Warriors, Moore wore only jersey Nos. 31 and 33 and put up 4.6 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game.
