Former Notre Dame forward Jalan Haralson, one of the nation’s top prospects, was heavily recruited by North Carolina in the transfer portal.
However, Haralson chose Tennessee after visiting Knoxville on Tuesday and announced his commitment to the Volunteers on Wednesday at the conclusion of his visit. He picked Tennessee over North Carolina and Ohio State, his other two finalists.

The 6-foot-7 forward is the No. 37 overall player in the NCAA transfer portal and the No. 2 small forward, according to On3. He was a four-star prospect in the 2025 class, ranked No. 20 overall, No. 2 at his position and No. 2 in Indiana.
This season for Notre Dame, Haralson averaged 16.2 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.6 assists in 27 games. He shot 51.1% from the field in 26.6 minutes per game and started 23 contests. He averaged 2.7 turnovers, finishing with 69 assists against 74 turnovers.
Haralson is the third transfer-portal target in a day to choose another school over UNC. Earlier Wednesday, Aiden Sherrell committed to Indiana and Karter Knox pledged to ACC rival Louisville.

Is it time for Carolina to panic?
Not yet. One or two portal additions — and a potential commitment from Henri Veesaar — could quickly change the outlook, but those moves still have to materialize.
