A new rumor claims the Los Angeles Rams plan to get very aggressive on the NFL trade market in the coming weeks. But it would not be to restart trade conversations about Philadelphia Eagles star receiver AJ Brown.
After coming up just short of reaching the Super Bowl earlier this year, the Rams are highly motivated to finish the story next season. In March, they made one of the first big splashes of the offseason when they gave up one of their first-round picks this month to acquire Kansas City Chiefs All-Pro cornerback Trent McDuffie.

They also added his Chiefs teammate Jaylen Watson in free agency. The Rams have not hidden their preference for veterans over rookies as they pursue another championship. And they are reportedly far from done adding proven NFL talent because of a specific pick they made in last week’s NFL Draft.
According to The Athletic’s LA Rams insider Nate Atkins, the reason the team surprised many by using the 13th overall pick on Ty Simpson is that they did not believe other potential options at that point in the draft — players like Kenyon Sadiq and Makai Lemon — would have been blocked by other veteran players on the depth chart. Limiting their impact in 2026. So they chose to take an heir apparent to Matthew Stafford that they were high on.

Furthermore, Atkins suggests getting a future franchise QB now instead of next year gives them a unique asset many rival teams will covet. A first-round pick in 2027. Next year’s draft class is projected to be one of the best ever. The LA insider suggests that with the team having Super Bowl aspirations, they are willing to move that selection in a trade.

“The Rams can now be more aggressive in trade talks with their 2027 draft picks, a factor that helped drive the decision to take a quarterback now rather than wait a year,” sources told Atkins. “They see established NFL players as having a greater impact than rookies, which illustrates their trade for McDuffie.”
Does that mean that the Rams could restart trade talks for three-time Pro Bowler AJ Brown? A player who could be the missing piece to a title team. LA was reportedly one of the teams that showed interest in March. However, the Eagles are not expected to move him until after June 1. Unfortunately, Brown won’t be one of those targets they go hard after with their 2027 first-rounder.
“That aggressiveness is not expected to target Philadelphia Eagles star wide receiver A.J. Brown despite earlier trade talks,” a source revealed to Atkins.
