King Charles shared a brief exchange with New York City mayor Zohran Mamdani as his historic state visit to the United States continued on Wednesday (29 April).
His Majesty and Queen Camilla visited the 9/11 memorial ahead of the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks in the third and penultimate day of their visit across the Atlantic on Wednesday (29 April).
The interaction came only hours after Mr Mamdani said he would urge the King to return a crown jewel to India if they were to speak separately.
The Kohinoor diamond, a point of contention between England and India, is currently set into a royal crown on display in the Tower of London.
The royals also laid a bouquet of white flowers at the memorial pool and met with first responders and families killed during the attacks.
