VfB Stuttgart 0-2 Bayern Munich: TOR! Kane doubles Bayern’s advantage

    -

66’ — TOR! Harry Kane finds some space and arrows his shot in the bottom corner. Well done by Pavlovic to win the ball

61’ — Aleksandar Pavlovic and Harry Kane come on.

59’ — Jonas Urbig tips a shot over the bar.

58’ — Josip Stanisic runs back in time to snuff out a Stuttgart attack. Bayern then race down the other end and Luis Diaz’s shot hits the side netting.

45’ — Second half has begun; Tom Bischof is subbed off for Josip Stanisic.

    Halftime Observations

    • While Bayern hasn’t been pegged back heavily, the team still looks iffy. It feels like the team is lacking in general. Not disappointingly bad, just meh.

    • Set-pieces continue to be Bayern’s Achilles heel. Kompany must do something to fix that.

    45+9’ — Halftime.

45+2’ — Early into eight minutes of stoppage time, Luis Diaz broke into the Stuttgart box but his shot was parried right at Nicolas Jackson, whose own shot was saved.

40-43’ — Bayern fail to clear yet ANOTHER set-piece and Stuttgart score. Lucky for them there was an offside call somewhere so it stays 0-1 following a lengthy VAR check.

34’ — Michael Olise’s attempt trickles in front of goal but doesn’t go in.

25’ — Both the hosts and the visitors pushing for a goal. In Stuttgart’s case, an equalizer. For Bayern, another goal to give themselves a cushion.

12’ — TOR! Jonas Urbig’s long pass finds Konrad Laimer who controls it beautifully and passes sideways to Michael Olise, who in return slips Laimer in who finished with a deft backheel.

    Kickoff! — We are underway!

Lineups are out! This is a weird lineup from Vincent Kompany, the most notable changes include Jonas Urbig and Nicolas Jackson benching Manuel Neuer and Harry Kane respectively.

Bayern Munich only has a few more games left to play until the “winterpause” or Christmas break after their away match against Heidenheim on December 21st. Today, the Bavarians travel to the MHP Arena to pay VfB Stuttgart a visit, following the visitors’ progression to the next round of the DFB-Pokal, after another Union Berlin-sized headache.

The Swabians are doing decently in the Bundesliga, occupying sixth place with 22 points which is some four wins (12 points) behind the Rekordmeister. Coincidentally, the league leaders, boasting zero domestic losses, have four more wins than the hosts. Taking points off Bayern is still an almighty task and that’s what Stuttgart has on their hands. As for the result, Bayern should be able to register another win.

    Prediction: Bayern wins 3-1

    It’s Bayern time.
