With quick delivery food apps like Swiggy and Instamart, ordering food and groceries is just a click away. These food platforms have revolutionised the way Indians look at dining in and food orders. They save you the hassle on days you just aren’t feeling it and come to your rescue at those times when going to a shop isn’t possible. These apps are also used to save some money when the prices of groceries are constantly on the rise.

On that note, Swiggy has released its end-of-year food report that gives you a glimpse into which foods were most ordered in India.

Over the past 10 years, the app has been sharing this list; one dish has taken the crown – Biryani! And this year is no different. Biryani remains the defending champion and is India’s most cherished dish, with 93 million orders placed on the food delivery app. This equals to 1 biryani being ordered every 3.25 seconds and 194 biryanis being ordered per minute on average.

It is important to note that these numbers do not include the orders being placed directly to the restaurant or on other food delivery platforms, either.

According to Swiggy’s year-end data, chicken biryani was the most popular variant and accounted for 57.7 million orders.

The other dishes that made the list were burgers, ranked second with 44.2 million orders, followed by pizza in third place with 40.1 million orders. Veg dosa also remained a crowd favourite, recording 26.2 million orders.

Another thing that stood out came from the ‘dining out’ section of the report. Apparently, two diners, one in Bengaluru and another in Mumbai, spent a staggering ₹3 lakh on a single restaurant bill during the year. This marked the highest single-visit spend recorded on the platform in 2025.

Another metro city that claimed its spot on the list was a person in Pune. One customer in the city recorded the highest single restaurant payment of ₹173,885, while another Pune diner spent ₹1.19 lakh on a single Valentine’s Day outing.

A person in Mumbai placed about 3,196 orders on Swiggy in 2025. This averages to nearly 9 orders a day – the highest number recorded in the country.

If we are talking about spending, Swiggy has also made sure to add the amount of money that customers have saved on their food while using the delivery app. According to the report, Swiggy’s data highlighted that via Swiggy Dineout, users collectively saved ₹774 crore in 2025.
