Phoebe Dynevor has put to rest years of speculation over her abrupt exit from hit show Bridgerton revealing it had been down to “not being called back.”
Dynevor, who portrayed fan-favourite ‘Diamond of the Season’ Daphne Bridgerton in seasons one and two, was notably absent from the regency-era offering in the third and fourth instalments.
Now, four years on from the untimely departure that devastated fans, she’s revealed that she’d “be there” for future seasons – should she receive the call-up.

Speaking to Perri Nemiroff on the Collider Ladies Night podcast, Dynevor shockingly debunked long-running rumours that she had left the show of her own accord.
When asked about whether it had been her decision to depart the Netflix series, she simply responded “no” – putting to bed years of mystery surrounding her absence in later seasons.
In news that is sure to delight Bridgerton fans far and wide, she’s now revealed that she’s still open to a timely return to the Ton in future.

But while admitting fans had called for Daphne’s return since the end of season two, she also confirmed she’d not yet received the call-up from Shondaland.
“I would always come back if I was asked,” she said.
“I just wanna say, I have have not received a call, and when I get that call I will be there if I can.”
She went on to explain Shondaland, the production company behind Bridgerton, had not previously mapped out or considered her continued involvement in the series.
“When the first season came out, they didn’t know what they needed,” she revealed.
The star noted that when the first season was made, there’d been no long-term plans in place for bringing back lead characters – referring to herself and Regé-Jean Page as “the ones that got away” in that respect.
Her former co-star and on-screen love interest departed the show after season one, not appearing alongside Dynevor for any cameos in the following season.
In the wake of Daphne’s glaring absence from the show’s most recent release, fans took to online platforms to vent their frustrations over the resulting potholes.

“After S2 whenever something happens Daphne’s kids get sick and Anthony teleports to India. Their brother in law died and sister became a widow at such young age and still no show,” one disgruntled fan wrote in a Reddit thread.
“I hope in the next seasons they give different explanations or pay them extra and get them to to a few more scenes.”
