Britney Spears reveals ‘spiritual journey’ after DUI guilty plea

    -

Britney Spears has told fans about her “spiritual journey” after she pleaded guilty to driving under the influence.

Sharing a photo of her hand holding a white-and-yellow snake Saturday night, the 44-year-old pop singer spoke about meeting “many new beautiful people” in a new chapter of her life where she has been connecting with God.

“Went to the pet store with my kids and look at what a beautiful baby snake this is… snakes are symbolic of good health, higher consciousness, and pure luck…,” she began the post.

“I’m so damn thankful to my friends and so many new beautiful people I have met through my spiritual journey… all a blessing in disguise…”

She said she still has to learn how to “be kind to myself and the way I speak to myself.”

“It’s a never ending journey and sometimes I just stop, look up and say wow God I think that was you and smile on!!!!” she continued.

The “Toxic” singer made the post less than a week after she pleaded guilty to a DUI charge following a March incident in Ventura County, California.

Spears was pulled over March 4 by California Highway Patrol officers, according to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office’s inmate records.

She pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol at an arraignment at a Ventura County courthouse Monday, The New York Times reports.

Spears was sentenced to 12 months’ probation and one day of jail, credited as time served, by Ventura County Commissioner Matthew Nemerson.

“Through her plea today, Britney has accepted responsibility for her conduct,” defense lawyer Michael Goldstein said in a statement.

“She has taken significant steps to implement positive change which is clearly reflected in the Ventura County District Attorney’s decision to reduce the charge in this case and dismiss the DUI. Britney appreciates this discretion and is also grateful for the outpouring of support she has received.”

911 dispatch audio obtained by US Weekly revealed that Spears was driving a black BMW 2026 convertible, with the operator describing the vehicle “erratic[ly] braking, swerving and driving with no taillight.”

Earlier this month, her representative confirmed she had voluntarily checked herself into a treatment center.

A representative for Spears told The Independent after the arrest that “long overdue change” needed to occur in the singer’s life.

“Hopefully, she can get the help and support she needs during this difficult time,” the statement continued. “Her boys are going to be spending time with her. Her loved ones are going to come up with an overdue needed plan to set her up for success for well being.”

The singer reunited with her sons, Sean and Jayden, three weeks on from the arrest, sharing a picture of them enjoying time together aboard a yacht.
