Woody, Buzz, Jessie, and the rest of the gang are heading back to theaters this summer.
More than 30 years after the original Toy Story introduced audiences to a world where toys come to life when humans aren’t looking, Disney and Pixar are returning with Toy Story 5, the latest installment in the beloved franchise.
This time around, the toys face a challenge unlike any they’ve encountered before: technology.
According to Disney, Buzz Lightyear, Woody, Jessie, and their friends find their roles threatened when they come face-to-face with Lilypad, a tablet device with strong opinions about what’s best for Bonnie. As screens and digital entertainment compete for children’s attention, the toys must once again prove why playtime matters.
The film reunites many of the franchise’s fan-favorite voices, including Tom Hanks as Woody, Tim Allen as Buzz Lightyear, Joan Cusack as Jessie, and Tony Hale as Forky. Greta Lee joins the cast as Lilypad, while Conan O’Brien lends his voice to a new character named Smarty Pants.
The cast also includes Scarlett Spears as Bonnie, Keanu Reeves as Duke Caboom, Annie Potts as Bo Peep, Bonnie Hunt as Dolly, Kristen Schaal as Trixie, Wallace Shawn as Rex, John Ratzenberger as Hamm, and Blake Clark as Slinky Dog.
Several new faces are also joining the Toy Story universe, including Craig Robinson as Atlas, a talking GPS hippo toy; Shelby Rabara as the camera toy Snappy; and Matty Matheson as Dr. Nutcase.
BCK readers will also want to keep an eye out for Mykal-Michelle Harris, who voices Blaze, an independent 8-year-old animal lover.
Krys Marshall also joins the cast as Blaze’s mom, a character navigating the growing influence of technology in her child’s life.
