Olivia Rodrigo claims third UK number one album

    -

Singer-songwriter Olivia Rodrigo has claimed her third UK number one album with her latest offering, you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love.

According to OfficialCharts.com, this is her biggest opening week to date, with the album notching up almost 103,000 chart units. This far surpasses her debut album SOUR (51,000 units) and sophomore release GUTS (60,000).

She also claims three spots in this week’s UK singles top five, with ‘stupid song’ (2), ‘the cure’ (4), and ‘drop dead’ (5).

At 23 years old, Olivia’s latest chart success also makes her the youngest international artist to shift over 100,000 albums in an opening week in more than two decades. The last artist to do this was Britney Spears in 2004 with Greatest Hits: My Prerogative.

If that wasn’t enough, Olivia also scored the biggest first week for any international album release this year in the UK, whilst also topping the Official Record Store and Official Album Vinyl Charts.

Speaking to OfficialCharts.com, Olivia shared her gratitude: “Thank you so much for this Number 1 album award! It means so much to me. I wrote so many of these songs in the UK, so it makes it extra special. Thank you all for listening, I appreciate it so much. I can’t wait to put this on my mantle!”

In celebration of the album’s release, Olivia will be taking The Unraveled Tour on the road from this September, through to next year. The tour encompasses stops across North America including multiple dates in Los Angeles and New York, as well as a series of European dates with stops in Stockholm, Amsterdam, Munich, London, Milan, and Barcelona.
