    -

Michael Clarke has revealed he’s had yet another skin cancer removed from his face in a candid Instagram post.

Sharing a picture of his face with a fresh scar down the bridge of his nose earlier today, the former Australian cricket captain, 45, said he’d had a cancer removed on Thursday.

Clarke said it was “never a nice feeling” as he urged fans to get their skin checked.

“Today is the start of Skin Cancer Awareness Month. No better time to go and get your skin checked,” he wrote.

“Yesterday I had another cancer removed from my face. Never a nice feeling but consistent check ups allow me to have these removed before it’s too late.”

“Whoooaaawww😮 get well soon dude,” TV personality and fitness buff Michelle Bridges commented underneath.

“Good to stay on top of it mate. Well done for promoting a very important cause,” another follower added.

He has long been open about his skin cancer battle, recently telling Today: “I had my first skin cancer when I was 19, so I just had one cut out of my nose four weeks ago.”

“You’d be surprised how many people walk through and find out they’ve got a melanoma, it saves their life,” he said.

In August last year, Clarke, who is dating Arabella Sherborne, said he had a skin cancer cut out of his nose.

“Skin cancer is real! Especially in [Australia]. Another one cut out of my nose today,” he wrote at the time.

“A friendly reminder to get your skin checked. Prevention is better than cure but in my case, regular check ups and early detection is key.

“So grateful that @drbishsoliman_ got it early šŸ’™. @australianskincancerfoundation

There are four main types of skin cancer, but Clarke didn’t reveal which one he had.

The athlete is an ambassador for the Australian Skin Cancer Foundation, which on his profile, says he ”had 27 stitches across his chest after being diagnosed with a dangerous Basal Cell Carcinoma”.

Australia has the highest skin cancer rates globally, and around two out of three Australians will be diagnosed with some form of skin cancer during their lifetime.

According to the Skin Cancer Foundation, they arise from abnormal, uncontrolled growth of basal cells found in the epidermis, the outermost layer of skin.

Because BCCs grow slowly, they are the most are curable and cause minimal damage when caught and treated early.
