He was a beloved fixture on The Kyle and Jackie O Show for years, but Intern Pete is officially jumping ship just weeks after the show’s abrupt end.
Intern Pete, whose real name is Peter Deppeler, made the sad announcement during Monday morning’s fill-in show with Mike E and Producer Mayo after 12 years on the job.
But he won’t be leaving radio or indeed ARN completely, as he’s heading to The Christian O’Connell Show on KIIS FM’s sister station Gold FM instead.
“Well, it’s time, I guess, for Intern Pete to graduate,” Pete began, fighting back tears.
“To everyone who’s listened over the years – thank you, genuinely. You are the reason Intern Pete became a thing in the first place. You made that name mean something, and I’ll always be grateful. Nothing lasts forever, as this year’s shown us…”
After revealing he would be moving shows, he continued: “I love what he’s building on Gold. No one does radio like him, and no one else did radio like Kyle and Jackie O.
“I’m so grateful. The next chapter starts now.”

Pete said how much he loved breakast radio, and thanked ARN for letting him “live the dream”.
Pete has been a beloved part of the show for over a decade, causing chaos with his bizarre stunts, wild red carpet interviews, and shameless attempts to get selfies with celebritities.
He was just as stunned as the rest of the nation when The Kyle and Jackie O Show came to an abrupt halt following an on-air clash between the hosts on February 20.
Sandilands and Henderson’s professional relationship imploded after he berated her fascination with horoscopes in the now infamous on-air row.
Henderson was absent from the show the following week. ARN said on March 3 she would not be returning to the show before announcing on March 18 the show would not be returning.
Sandilands’ contract was terminated for serious misconduct while Henderson’s contract was terminated after she indicated she could no longer work with Sandliands.
Since then, both have launched separate lawsuits challenging the contract terminations and each claiming compensation of $82 million – the amount left to pay out on the $100 million five-year contracts they inked in 2023.
ARN is countersuing both Sandilands and Henderson in addition to defending against both claims.
The network is also demanding the pair pay for advertising KIIS lost after they allegedly breached their contracts.
The matter is due back in court in June.
