Jimmy Fallon and Charlie Puth have presented a new comedy sketch that completely depicts the modern teen from alpaca-like hairstyles to a lot of slang nowadays. The ‘Tonight Show’ host and the singer collaborated on a sketch that not only got the recognition of the viewers but also the parents. Their online sketch, which gained popularity, is nothing but a testimony of how much they wanted to capture the very essence of the generational humor.

The sketch gives off the vibe of watching a basement video played live where Fallon and Puth come up with the hairstyles that were compared to “broccoli” or “llama” styles, which are trending among boys, and consequently, got a lot of comments. Additionally, the black outfits with white socks and sandals made them look like parents who would say they have “one of these upstairs” in their own living rooms.

As the video goes on, the two are exchanging very quickly slang terms like “no cap,” “bet,” “100%,” and “cooked,” in addition to that, they are making up new fictional words as “pinwheel” to speak of a vacant mind when communicating with a crush. A TikTok-type dance challenge is the cherry on the top of the cake that comedy reaches; one user remarks that it reminded them of “last week’s Snack Homiez from SNL.”

Mostly, the audiences’ reactions were positive; the majority commented on the accuracy of the representation. A teenager commented, “To me, the video is an accurate representation of today’s boys,” a teacher corroborated, “It is not even exaggerated, I am a high school teacher.” Older parents could recognize the factor crossing over the years of birth, and a mother proved this by saying that her 13-year-old only had one criticism: “that hair looks fabulous on Jimmy Fallon.”

Some commenters began to compare the two with famous comedy duos from the past; therefore, quite a few viewers referred to them as “Contemporary Beavis and Butthead” and “Gen Alpha Beavis and Butthead.” The issue of hair was heavily debated; one user stated, “I can’t get over the hair, it’s just so precise 😂😂😂😂😂😂” While another one commented, “so, what’s the deal with the hair being so spot on? 😂” The apparent taper cut, most commonly known as “low taper fade” or “broccoli head” style, once again linked the youth culture undeniably.

The sketch’s authenticity even reached the point where some viewers pointed out that it was too real. One viewer joked, “where is my ‘type shh’? I can bear at least one ‘type shh’ and like 20 ‘low keys’ 🤣🤣🤣,” which is indicating how actively many are engaging with the linguistic features that they are demolishing through parody.

However, not everyone found it equally amusing. A parent said, “💯 My 14-year-old daughter could not be less interested. But this mother had a good laugh,” claiming a generational gap in the feedback. Another comment highlighted the origin of the slang, saying, “It was just so much cooler when it was ONLY urban/city black kids talking like that, mind you, this is AAVE not ‘Gen Z slang’.”

Fallon and Puth’s collaboration is indicative of the trend that the talk show host is in the process of going viral (musical)guest content. One audience member commented on the sketch, “pure comedy perfection 😭🔥,” while another simply remarked, “I love that Jimmys show is like ‘SNL skits’ with his friends 😂.”

The snack company Cheez-It even wanted to be part of the fun when it asked, “Is this about us?”—a reference to the sketch’s invention of the term “cheese-er” for “awkward but still kind of cool,” and a sly nod to the Euphoria series that other commentators found humorous.

From hairstyles through the socks-and-sandals combination to the slang being absolutely spot on, the minutiae surrounding the sketch have proved that Fallon’s troupe has undertaken extensive research into the prevailing youth culture. One user has succinctly concluded, “Lowkey, this skit was cap. Not gonna lie, it was actually fire.”

In the digital epoch, Jimmy Fallon continues to prove that he is a person of significance through content that unites the older and the younger generations. Therefore, the parents are laughing recognizing the things while amongst the kids there are some that can really associate with the content even if they are not always willing to confess it. The sketch also brought to mind the kind of viral content Oscar Isaac has been involved in. The discussion of physical transformations in comedy is not new, as seen with Dwayne Johnson. The host also recently celebrated Jimin’s birthday. In other viral news, it was reported that Druski and Kevin Hart fell asleep during a marathon streaming event.
