CRAIG MELVIN CALLS KNICKS-SPURS NBA FINALS GAME WITH SON A ‘CORE MEMORY’

    -

Craig Melvin shared a special father-son moment after taking his son, Delano, to what he described as “a game for the ages.”

The Today co-anchor posted photos and videos from Game 4 of the Knicks vs. Spurs NBA Finals on June 10, showing himself and his 12-year-old son enjoying the action together at Madison Square Garden. In one snapshot, Craig pulled Delano close for a selfie as the two celebrated after watching the Knicks defeat the Spurs.

“A game for the ages and a core memory too,” Melvin captioned the post.

The television personality also shared a selfie taken before tipoff, writing, “And here we go….”

Melvin and his wife, sports broadcaster Lindsay Czarniak, are parents to two children: Delano and 9-year-old daughter Sybil. While the veteran journalist often keeps his family life relatively private, he occasionally gives viewers a glimpse into the special moments he shares with his kids.

One of those moments came earlier this year when Delano joined his father at Today for Bring Your Kid to Work Day.

The preteen made several appearances throughout the morning broadcast, including a memorable segment during the 3rd Hour of Today. Melvin jokingly introduced his son after a producer rolled him into the frame while seated in a spinning chair.

“My son, Delano, woke up early, very early,” Melvin said.

After Delano admitted that his dramatic entrance was “really fun,” he appeared ready to keep spinning in his chair. His dad, however, quickly stepped into full parenting mode.

“No, son, you’ve got to… the cameras,” Melvin said while repositioning the chair. “You’ve got to pay attention.”

Melvin has often spoken about how important fatherhood is to him.

“I’m proud that I am physically present for my kids, and what I work on is being more emotionally and mentally present for them,” Melvin said in an interview with Parents.com in 2023. “When I’m with my son or daughter, I’m listening and responding to what they tell me instead of wondering about my to-do list or thinking about the show from that morning or emails I have to get back to.”
