However, Feldman’s legal team released a statement saying the doc mischaracterized Feldman’s recollection of specific events involving Haim, adding that “claims Corey Haim ‘molested’ him is a sensationalized mischaracterization of the statements made in the film. Mr. Feldman’s statement was that during the filming of The Lost Boys Mr. Haim sought to ‘mess around’ with Mr. Feldman. However, Mr. Feldman did not reciprocate his advances and contacted another party on behalf of Mr. Haim,” the statement continued.
So what’s the truth? It’s not for me, some random BuzzFeed writer, to say what did or didn’t happen in Hollywood in the ’80s. What can be said is that this remains a deeply disputed set of claims, with conflicting accounts and no legal resolution.
More broadly, there have been documented cases of abuse involving young actors during that era (you can read about the case involving Jeepers Creepers director Victor Salva, who served time for sexually abusing a 12-year-old actor in one of his films). And in fairness to Haim — who died at age 38 after a difficult life — Feldman’s account is just that: his account. Haim is not here to confirm or challenge these newer allegations, which makes the story even harder to fully untangle.
