Taylor Swift has yet again sent the world into a tizzy with an anticipated music announcement – but this time, it may have been a mistake.
Keen-eyed fans were shocked when Swift’s official website began a 48-hour countdown in the early hours of Friday AEST, especially as the backdrop of blue sky and cartoon clouds looked identical to the iconic wallpaper of Andy’s bedroom in Pixar’s Toy Story.
But almost as quickly as it appeared, the countdown was quietly removed.
Before it vanished, the countdown was set to end on Sunday, May 3, at 4am AEST. Neither Swift nor her official fan account, Taylor Nation, has acknowledged the timer.
So … what the heck is going on?
It’s unclear if the countdown was accidentally posted earlier than it was meant to, but in the minds of fans it’s definitely let the toys out of the toybox.
They are now convinced Swift, 36, will be releasing a single for the soundtrack of the upcoming Toy Story 5 film slated for June.

Tom Hanks and Tim Allen return as Woody and Buzz Lightyear respectively for the newest instalment in the beloved Pixar franchise.
The story is expected to pit the toys against modern technology, as their owner Bonnie becomes enamoured with a tablet named Lily Pad.
Unsurprisingly, as is the Swiftie way, the countdown had fans connecting dots elsewhere too.
Earlier this week, Swift was photographed wearing a perfectly curated outfit during an outing with friends in New York.
With a sky-blue dress, canary-yellow Dior bag and brown Louboutin sandals (with red bottoms, of course), it perfectly invokes the Toy Story logo.
She’s even doing Woody proud with a horseshoe necklace.
That’s not all, as there is another crazy coincidence that has people convinced.
Toy Story 5‘s June 19 release date is also the 20th anniversary of Swift’s first single, Tim McGraw.
There’s also been plenty of fan speculation about how she’ll mark her incredible 20 years in music, so this just adds fuel to the fire.
“It’s a Toy Story, baby just say yes,” one excited fan joked.
“Tay Story 😍😍” another said.
As for whether the countdown will return at a later date, or if the Sunday morning finish time will lead to anything? We’ll have to wait and see.
Toy Story 5‘s release date certainly means an early May announcement is on the cards, if there is one to be made!
Swift is no stranger to movie soundtracks, most recently providing Carolina for 2022 murder mystery Where the Crawdads Sing.
Her other soundtrack songs include I Don’t Wanna Live Forever for Fifty Shades Darker, Safe & Sound and Eyes Open for The Hunger Games and Crazier for The Hannah Montana Movie.
