The 109th Indianapolis 500 is scheduled for Sunday, May 25, 2025, on the 2.5-mile Indianapolis Motor Speedway oval. But there’s plenty of action on the track before the race.
Thirty-four cars will practice from Tuesday-Friday, May 13-16. Qualifying is Saturday-Sunday, May 17-18. Monday, May 19, is another practice day. Carb Day, featuring a practice, pit stop competition and concert, is on Friday, May 23. Legends Day, featuring a public drivers’ meeting, is Saturday, May 24.

Josef Newgarden won the race in 2023 and ’24. He will attempt to become the first driver to win the race in three straight years.
Will Kyle Larson race the Double at the Indy 500 on May 25?
NASCAR Cup star Kyle Larson is scheduled to compete in the Indianapolis 500 and NASCAR’s Coca-Cola 600 on May 25. He attempted the “Double” in 2024, but poor weather in Indianapolis and Charlotte, North Carolina, prevented him from completing it.
Will President Trump attend the Indy 500 on May 25?
On April 9, Indianapolis Motor Speedway and IndyCar Series owner Roger Penske said President Trump had an “open invitation” to attend the race. Whether he attends probably won’t be determined until much closer to the race. Trump attended NASCAR’s biggest race, the season-opening Daytona 500, in February.
