Warriors’ Steve Kerr held positive conversation with Draymond Green

    -

On Monday, Dec. 22, the Golden State Warriors were rocked by a Draymond Green and Steve Kerr dispute on the sidelines. Green, who walked away from the discussion and went back to the changing room, wasn’t seen for the second half of the game. Golden State secured a 120-97 win despite the curveball.

During a Dec. 24 news conference, Steve Kerr shed some light on the conversations he and Green have had since the incident. The veteran head coach noted how both parties have since apologized.

“Monday night was not my finest hour,” Kerr said. “That was a time I needed to be calm in the huddle. And so I regret my actions in that exchange. I apologize to Draymond. He apologized to me. We both apologized to the team. These things, they happen, especially when you get two incredibly competitive people like Draymond and me. So, over the 12 years we’ve been together, this has happened occasionally. I’m not proud of it. So we had a great chat. I care so much about Draymond. And the relationship we have is like family…

And like family, you go through ups and downs. And my number one goal, honestly, is for him to finish his career as a warrior with us, fighting, metaphorically, not literally, fighting and competing together until we’re both gone. And I believe that’s going to happen because I believe in Draymond, and I believe in myself, and I believe in everything we’ve built for 12 years.”

Kerr and Draymond will now look to put the incident behind them as they prepare for the Warriors’ Christmas Day game against the Dallas Mavericks. Given Golden State’s struggles over the opening months of the season, Kerr will need everyone focused on improving the team’s current position and building some momentum as we head into 2026.

The Warriors are currently 15-15, occupying the eighth seed in the Western Conference, 3.5 games behind the Houston Rockets, who sit sixth.
