U.S. Open cut line: Big names in danger of missing the weekend

    -

OAKMONT, Pa. — World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler came into the 125th U.S. Open as one of the most prohibitive betting favorites in years. Now, he’s in danger of missing the cut.

The top 60 players and ties will make it to the weekend at Oakmont. Currently, that’s at +4 … and Scheffler is at +5, playing on his second nine in Round 2.

The number — +4 — is likely to rise, if history is an indicator. The last time the U.S. Open was played at Oakmont (2016), the cut line fell at +6.

Others in danger of missing the cut: Jordan Spieth, Tony Finau, Dustin Johnson, Patrick Cantlay, Shane Lowry and Justin Thomas.

Scheffler has not missed a cut at a major since the 2022 PGA Championship.

    This story will be updated.
