Oklahoma City Thunder guard Cason Wallace was honored by his high school over the weekend.

Wallace had his No. 22 jersey retired by Richardson High School in Texas in a ceremony, where he starred for four years.

Wallace had a terrific career at the school, averaging 19.9 points, 7.4 rebounds and 6.1 assists as a senior. He was named 2022 Texas Gatorade Basketball Player of the Year and a McDonald’s All-American before playing collegiately at Kentucky for one season.
The Thunder selected Wallace No. 10 overall in the 2023 NBA Draft. He made an immediate impact in the league, earning All-Rookie Second Team honors in 2023. He didn’t miss a game in the regular season as a rookie, averaging 6.8 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.5 assists.

He was a key contributor for OKC during its title run last season. Wallace played 26 minutes against the Indiana Pacers in Game 7 of the 2025 NBA Finals, posting 10 points and three steals.
He’s had another solid season this year, getting 8.1 points, 3.1 rebounds and 2.2 assists while shooting 42.4% from the field. Wallace has made 43 starts this season and has only missed three games.
The Thunder found a gem in Wallace, as he’s been one of the league’s top defenders since being drafted. He’s a strong candidate to earn All-Defense honors this season for the first time in his career.
Wallace has two years remaining on his rookie contract. He’s on a $5.8 million deal this season and is extension-eligible this offseason.
