It might be the biggest opening weekend game ever. No. 1 Texas travels to the Horseshoe in Columbus, OH to take on defending national champion No. 3 Ohio State. The game will be featured as part of Fox’s Big Game Saturday, the network’s premier time slot.

For a few days, it looked like many Longhorns fans might miss the game on TV. Fox and YouTube TV are in the middle of a carriage dispute. Thankfully, the two media giants came to a short-term resolution so everyone can watch the game.

Ohio State was the final team the Longhorns faced last season. The Buckeyes knocked UT out of the college football playoffs in the semifinal Cotton Bowl. OSU would go on to beat Notre Dame and win the national title.

The game is also the first time in history the preseason No. 1 team has been an underdog in Week 1.

    Texas vs. Ohio State Prediction

It’s finally here. Game 1 of the Arch Manning era. Texas is looking for revenge after a heartbreaking loss to the Buckeyes in the college football playoff semifinal at the Cotton Bowl.

The real key to this game will come down to the offensive lines. Both are rebuilt from a year ago. Another huge key is how Texas handles star Ohio State wide receiver Jeremiah Smith. Texas was able to defend Smith will in the Cotton Bowl. But those were different DBs.

We think Manning will hit some big plays that Ohio State might not be prepared for. Texas’ defense, possibly the best in the country, limits new OSU QB Julian Sayin enough to get the win.

Final Score: Texas 31, Ohio State 17
