TE Brock Bowers dominates mock game

    -

The Las Vegas Raiders held a mock game inside of Allegiant Stadium for their ninth training camp practice over the weekend. It offered head coach Pete Carroll an opportunity to learn more about his football team. Attempting to create a game-like setting brought new pressure to training camp.

Unsurprisingly, superstar tight end Brock Bowers was totally dominant during the scrimmage. Bowers recorded five catches in the first half, including two touchdowns, according to Levi Edwards. His first score occurred on a third-and-goal, per reports. His second end-zone visit was a back-shoulder grab near the left pylon.

Bowers’ impact was consistently felt. He also caught a deep pass from starting quarterback Geno Smith during the two-minute drill in the first half, an explosive play which helped set up a touchdown pass to Dont’e Thornton Jr. a few plays later. Bowers was the focal point of Chip Kelly’s offense.

Bowers was historically impressive as a rookie, setting numerous records by recording 112 receptions for 1,194 yards and five touchdowns. The Raiders significantly upgraded at quarterback this offseason by acquiring Smith via trade. Smith’s presence and gunslinging mentality could lead to a similar season for Bowers in 2025.

Kelly is making sweeping changes to the Raiders’ offense, but don’t expect less production from the star pass catcher. Alternatively, expect Bowers to remain dominant. If the mock game practice was any indication, Bowers is totally capable of duplicating last season’s success.
