Steelers ‘very interested’ in top college football coach, per report

    -

One of the top head coaches in all of college football has been linked to the Pittsburgh Steelers, courtesy of a report from the highly regarded NFL analyst Brian Baldinger.

On Friday, Baldinger discussed a few different teams with head coach needs before finding his way to the Steelers, who he claimed are “very interested” in Miami Hurricanes head coach Mario Cristobal.

“I hear the Steelers are very interested in Mario Cristobal, coach of the University of Miami,” Baldinger said via The Best Football Show. “I think Mario Cristobal, actually, would really translate to the NFL. … There’s talent everywhere on that team. But the way that Mario coached that team reminded me of what old-school coaches used to do.”

Becoming Miami’s head coach in December 2021, Cristobal wasted little time making an impact — leading the Hurricanes to their first-ever CFP National Championship appearance following an outstanding 2025 season.

To many, Cristobal proved himself at least deserving of a chance at the NFL level, and with a new regime set to take over in the Steelers organization, there may be no better place to test himself than in Pittsburgh.
