Steelers veteran DT Cam Heyward has responded to Raiders center Jackson Powers-Johnson’s callout — and it was hilarious.
Powers-Johnson recently explained on Maxx Crosby’s podcast that his “welcome to the NFL” moment was giving up a sack to Heyward — claiming that he beat himself, not any doing of the Steelers DT. He also added there were some words exchanged following the sack — which motivated Powers-Johnson to look forward to a rematch.
On Heyward’s podcast, co-host Hayden Walsh asked the Steelers veteran what he said to Powers-Johnson — and Heyward claimed he blacked out and couldn’t remember.
He also shot down Powers-Johnson’s “I beat myself” comment:
“That wasn’t the only time he got beat, I’m going to be honest,” Heyward laughed. “I’m going to be honest too — this is the other thing — he’s saying this and we don’t even have him scheduled this year. That’s kind of funny.”
Heyward finished the roast of Powers-Johnson with a final shot at the “He didn’t beat me” argument:
“It ain’t going to say that in the stat sheet, my dog. That’s on you.”
Powers-Johnson may be 0-2 after Heyward’s response — which makes you wonder why the second-year Raider bothered bringing any of this up this offseason.
