The South Bay Lakers have been on a mini-roll lately. They started March with four straight wins and six victories in seven games, and they looked to continue their positive momentum on Wednesday when they visited the Sioux Falls Skyforce.
The first half was competitive and ended with South Bay ahead 56-51. It then took control of the game by outscoring the Skyforce 29-19 in the third quarter, and although the Skyforce mounted a challenge in the final minutes, South Bay held on for a 119-110 win.
Forward Stanley Johnson led the way for the G League Lakers with 24 points and shot 4-of-11 from 3-point range while adding nine rebounds and four assists, Center Kylor Kelley grabbed 19 rebounds, and forward Cole Swider threw in seven of 15 shot attempts and half of his 10 3-point attempts to score 20 points.
Meanwhile, rookie guard Quincy Olivari struggled to find the hoop. Only three of his 13 shot attempts went down, and he scored just eight points while committing four turnovers.
These two teams will face off again in South Dakota on Friday. South Bay will then return home to host the Santa Cruz Warriors on Monday.
