Six Eagles who could be playing their final games in Philadelphia

    -

The NFL has its constants. There’s its ever-churning desire for parity and its willingness to change rules to make the game better. There is also the knowledge that those rule changes are often implemented to benefit the offense. The Philadelphia Eagles are the known exception. They had a play that seemed unstoppable, and the world ended. The goal was to rid our great game of the Birds’ infamous and undefendable play forever.

Anyway, we digress. The point is that our game is ever-changing, but there are also certainties. As strange as this may sound, one of pro football’s constants is that there is certainty that things will change.

That statement seems more confusing when typed and re-read, but something tells us most of you understood it. Need an example? Just look at every NFL team’s roster. We can assure you that there will be an annual turnover.

Whenever this Eagles season ends, however it ends, we know we’re watching the final snaps taken by some familiar faces. For this exercise, we ignored some of the prominent names to focus more on the guys with longer tenures.

    Jahan Dotson, wide receiver

Jahan Dotson is a former first-rounder whom the Eagles acquired from a division rival in a 2024 offseason trade. That meant he had a fifth-year option baked into his deal, but the decision was made to decline it.

That made this a contract season, and though Dotson can ball, he’s never going to be anything more than the fifth or sixth option on any given play. Then, there’s the other thing. Philadelphia has had a revolving door at the third wide receiver spot for a while now.

    Brandon Graham, defensive lineman

This one kind of hurts. If we haven’t learned anything else about Brandon Graham, we’ve learned that he can probably play until he’s 40 and remain effective.

Who knew? All they had to do was move him from the EDGE to defensive tackle, and that would transform him into the second coming of Corey Simon.

Graham has gas left in the tank. He no longer needs to play every defensive snap, but he’s a great rotational piece. Philadelphia has a lot of mouths to feed, though. They have young studs in Jalen Carter and Jordan Davis, and the time rapidly approaches for them to get paid.

Matt Pryor & Brett Toth, offensive linemen

Matt Pryor and Brett Toth will never be remembered like Evan Mathis or Brandon Brooks, but they’re pretty good. They’re also Eagles through and through.

Still, the time has come to find a long-term succession option for Lane Johnson. This team also needs depth along the interior. Aging linemen who are, at best, average are probably among the more likely candidates to be given their walking papers.

    Sydney Brown and Kelee Ringo

The secondary needs its mini-facelift. Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean are now Pro Bowlers and long-term building blocks. Kelee Ringo and safety Sydney Brown, not so much.

Brown and Ringo aren’t eligible for free agency until after next season. It still seems possible that they could play their way through the spring and summer and find themselves among the tough cuts at the end of the 2026 preseason.

That isn’t the hope we have for them. Naturally, fingers are still crossed that the light turns on, but if not, these two could continue to tumble down the depth chart as Philadelphia keeps tweaking its roster.
