Longhorns opponents for Southwest Maui Invitational 2025 Tournament revealed
After weeks of waiting, the bracket for the 2025 Southwest Maui Invitational was released on Tuesday. The tournament, which will feature the Texas Longhorns, will be played at the Lahaina Civic Center on Nov. 24-26, 2025. As the Longhorns prepare for their first season under Sean Miller, they now know who they will be facing.
In the quarterfinals on Nov. 24, Texas will face Arizona State at 10 pm. They are then set to take on either Washington State or Chaminade on Nov. 25. The tournament will wrap a day later, with the Longhorns hoping to make an appearance in the finals. Their competition will include Boise State, NC State, Seton Hall, and USC.
Over the last few years, Texas has become a familiar participant in this tournament. They also competed in the Maui Invitational in 1993, 2004, 2008, 2012, and 2020. The Longhorns currently own a 10-5 record in the tourney, including one championship in 2020. For Miller and his staff, the goal is to leave Hawaii with another title.Â
Entering this tournament, Texas holds a 4-1 all-time record against its first opponent, Arizona State. Their last matchup came in 20224 when the Longhorns emerged with an 87-85 victory on a Cameron Ridley put-back at the buzzer. The Longhorns have also never lost to the Sun Devils at a neutral site.Â
Although the Longhorns’ focus is on winning a national title, this tournament should be a good test earlier on. It will also be a good chance for the Longhorns to build on their team chemistry. There are many new faces after a 2024-2025 campaign that did not meet expectations.Â
If Miller and his team can take care of business, then the Longhorns will have a reason to celebrate early on before entering one of the most challenging stretches of their schedule.Â
