The NCAA transfer portal will close Jan. 16 after opening on Jan. 2. Former Arizona State and Michigan State quarterback Sam Leavitt is a potential transfer target for Tennessee.
The 6-foot-2, 205-pound signal-caller appeared in 24 games, including 20 starts, from 2023-25 with the Spartans and Sun Devils. He completed 376-of-612 passing attempts for 4,652 yards, 36 touchdowns and 11 touchdowns, while recording 816 rushing yards and 10 rushing touchdowns on 196 attempts.

Leavitt guided Arizona State to a College Football Playoff appearance in 2024. He finished the 2024 season as Arizona State’s record holder for total offense by a freshman (3,328 yards) and second in program history for passing yards by a freshman (2,885).
As a redshirt sophomore in 2025, Leavitt totaled 1,628 passing yards, 10 touchdowns and three interceptions, while recording 306 rushing yards and five touchdowns.
He is from West Linn High School in West Linn, Oregon. Leavitt committed to Washington State on June 17, 2022 and decommitted from the Cougars on Dec. 14, 2022.
He entered the transfer portal on Jan. 2.
