It’s one of the most complicated times of the year for each team across Major League Baseball.
Opening Day is just days away and while that’s exciting, it also means that clubs have to get their rosters in order. That leads to difficult decisions, including sending guys down to the minors and roster cuts in general. It’s obviously an exciting time with the new season right around the corner, but each club has to get through the difficult roster decisions first.

The Boston Red Sox, like every other team in the league, has had to trim down the roster. Boston made a handful of roster cuts on Monday, including optioning World Baseball Classic star Nate Eaton down to the minors, according to MassLive.com’s Chris Cotillo.
“Red Sox optioned Nate Eaton to Worcester, clearing the path for Andruw Monasterio to make the team,” Cotillo wrote.
Red Sox fans got a glimpse of Eaton last season. He played in 41 games for Boston and got some time all over the diamond. He got some action at third base, left field, center field, right field, and designated hitter. He stood out in the World Baseball Classic as a member of Team Great Britain. Eaton played in just four games, but slashed .316/.316/.579 with one homer and one RBI.
He made plenty of headlines with a nice homer of Detroit Tigers two-time reigning Cy Young Award winner Tarik Skubal.
While Eaton may not have made the club out of camp, his time will come at some likely point in 2026 as a depth option.
