Real Madrid’s board and hierarchy are understandably furious with the players and the dressing room for the defeat to Benfica, which not only cost them their place in the top-8 of the UEFA Champions League but also forces them to play an additional round in the competition.
With a few days remaining in the ongoing winter transfer window, it is unsurprising that rumours have arisen of the club potentially making some recruitments after the setback ahead of a critical part of the season.

A clear stance
As confirmed by Diario AS, however, Real Madrid do not even see it as an option to sign a player in January. The team is closed for arrivals and will remain closed until the summer.
Recent days have been busy for those at the Valdebebas offices, especially with several top players offering their services to the club to ‘help’ improve the situation and strengthen the squad.
Even that, however, has not changed Florentino Perez’s mind.
The board retain faith in the current core and see the team to be more than capable of challenging for both major titles they are in contention for.

Moreover, they feel the winter market is not one for Real Madrid.
All eyes, thus, turn to the upcoming summer transfer window, where the Spanish outlet confirms that there will be major arrivals and departures.
It will be a busy and possibly ruthless window for Los Blancos, where they may see a major overhaul.
The defence and midfield are the primary areas of focus for June, but it remains to be seen what the administration focuses on at the time.
A lot, after all, may depend on the managerial situation in June.
