Penn State RB commit Kemon Spell ‘not 100 with Penn State’

    -

“The best in PA, stay in PA.” Well that may not be the case in the Class of 2027. Wide receiver Khalil Taylor announced his decommitment from the Nittany Lions, and just a day later, running back commit Kemon Spell said he’s no longer 100% with Penn State.

If Spell signs with Penn State in a little over a year, he’ll go down as one of the highest-rated recruits in program history. The running back is currently the No. 8 player in the country and the top player at his position and in Pennsylvania.

However, it appears Penn State will have to re-earn the commitment of the nation’s top running back.

“I will be taking visits and everything else, so we’ll see from there,” Spell said in a postgame interview.

Spell had a performance to remember against one of the best teams in 4A in the WPIAL. The McKeesport product totaled 420 all-purpose yards and six touchdowns, leading his team to a 56-31 victory.

As of right now, Spell is still committed to the Nittany Lions, but with visits to other schools scheduled, that could change real soon. The running back has two visits upcoming with Notre Dame and Georgia, two schools known for producing great running backs.

Spell is one of just three players committed in 2027 to the blue and white, and his decommitment would seemingly drop Penn State out of the Top 25 in the 2027 recruiting rankings. Following Taylor’s decommitment, the program dropped from No. 2 to No. 10 in the class rankings.
