The New England Patriots unveiled a statue of Michigan legend and seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass., ahead of last night’s preseason game.
Fox Sports analyst Joel Klatt took aim at defining success for top college football programs, and said that for Michigan it’s being in the mix for the playoff in 2025.
“Last year was clearly a bump in the road in Ann Arbor,” Klatt wrote. “In Year 2 under Sherrone Moore, expectations will be higher. Maybe not as high as they are in Alabama, but this fan base is used to being in the top echelon. You can’t be a top program and not expect to be in the CFP mix.
“If Michigan is in the CFP mix, I think many would agree that Moore would be building toward something in Ann Arbor. He has a young quarterback in Bryce Underwood to build around, which is promising. If Michigan is 9-3 or 10-2 at the end of the regular season, that would be a good sign and last year will be quickly forgotten.”

Michigan football landed Columbia linebacker transfer Rocco Milia, who totaled 49 sacks last season.

Milia spent four years at Columbia, preserving a redshirt as a freshman in 2021 when he appeared in two games. He turned in his biggest season as a redshirt sophomore in 2023 when he had 54 tackles, including 3.5 tackles for loss, and three interceptions.
All told, across his four seasons, Milia totaled 114 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss, a sack and four interceptions. He will have one year of eligibility remaining as he returns to his home state of Michigan.
Rocco Milia played high school football at Birmingham (Mich.) Brother Rice before arriving at Columbia. He was a candidate for Mr. Michigan Football and was an AP Class 3-4 First Team All-State selection as he played safety, wide receiver and punt returner during his high school career.
