The Oregon Ducks celebrated the commitment of 5-star safety Jett Washington earlier in June, and they’re looking to kick off the month of July with another elite defensive back joining the squad as well.
On Saturday afternoon, 4-star safety Devin Jackson announced that he would be making his commitment official on July 3rd, choosing between the Ducks, Florida Gators, Miami Hurricanes, and Nebraska Cornhuskers. Jackson is rated as the No. 133 overall player and No. 14 safety in the nation, according to On3.
Earlier on Saturday, On3’s Steve Wiltfong placed an RPM prediction for Oregon to land a commitment from Jackson, making the Ducks the new leader in the clubhouse to pick up the blue-chip recruit. Jackson was previously committed to the Gators for a little under a year, but he reopened his recruitment earlier this spring.
Should the Ducks be able to land Jackson, it would be yet another example of their elite recruiting in the secondary over the years under Dan Lanning. That ability was highlighted particularly in the 2025 class when they signed 5-star CB Na’eem Offord, 5-star S Trey McNutt, 4-star CB Brandon Finney, and 4-star CB Dorian Brew. The Ducks added to that blue-chip haul earlier this month with a commitment from 5-star safety Jett Washington, the No. 18 player in the class.
Jackson’s commitment could be a huge one for the Ducks, potentially kicking off a star-studded run of commitments. On July 4, there is an expectation that 5-star OT Immanuel Iheanacho announces his commitment, while 4-star WR Jalen Lott is expected to announce his commitment on July 8, and 4-star LB Nick Abrams announces on July 16.
