There may be a new free agent option at defensive tackle for the Jacksonville Jaguars to consider.
ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported that the Minnesota Vikings are expected to release veteran defensive tackle Jonathan Allen due to salary cap restraints.

Defensive tackle is one of the bigger positions of need that the Jaguars have this offseason, but as ESPN’s Ben Solak detailed recently, between free agency and the draft, options may be limited.
So any additional options for the Jaguars to potentially pursue could be beneficial.
Allen measures in at 6-3, 300 pounds, and was a first-round pick by Washington in 2017. The 2025 season was his first in Minnesota.
Allen made 17 starts last season, recording 34 quarterback pressures and four sacks, according to PFF. Out of 121 eligible defensive tackles, Allen ranked 33rd in pass rush win rate. Against the run, he totaled 65 tackles.

Allen is a two-time Pro Bowler in the 2021 and 2022 seasons. His most productive years came from 2020 to 2023, when Allen recorded at least 47 pressures each year, including a career-high of 67.
Allen has not yet been released, and it remains to be seen if the Jaguars will show interest, but his presence could boost depth and add some needed pass-rush juice.
