Minnesota Vikings News and Links: Shall We Continue To Beat That Dead Horse?

    -

Not much news besides the odds of Brian Flores leaving for another team seemingly increasing with every report you read. I do not think the team can replace him but they can find someone else to call a good defensive game. The worry if he leaves is do some of the personnel no longer fit with the new DC’s scheme? That is going to inform about possible cuts or trades.

The other issue is the dead horse and if we should continue to beat it. I think it is inevitable but there is nothing new right now.

Insider Shares Big Update on Brian Flores’ Future With Vikings

With Flores looking at all his options, NFL insider Tom Pelissero made a Jan. 8 appearance on KFAN1003 and shared the latest on what he is hearing on the defensive coordinator and whether a return to the Vikings is possible.

“In terms of Flo’s contract, I don’t get the sense that that’s on the front burner [with the Vikings], because he’s focused right now on what head coaching opportunities potentially could be out there,” Pelissero said.

“Once you get past that, let’s see exactly how some of those other dominoes fall. Is it in play for Flo to potentially come back? Yes. But there’s a lot of other interest, I would tell you that, in terms of defensive coordinator, if there’s not a head coaching opportunity out there.”

On Jan. 8, Todd Archer, who covers the Dallas Cowboys for ESPN, reported, citing multiple sources, that the Cowboys have requested permission to speak with Minnesota defensive pass game coordinator Daronte Jones for their defensive coordinator vacancy.

Vikings’ Jordan Addison News Emerges Before Free Agency
Selected 23rd overall in the 2023 draft, Addison is entering the final year of his rookie contract and is eligible for a fifth-year option, which would keep him under contract through the 2027 season at a below-market rate for a top-tier No. 2 wide receiver.

NFL.com’s Marc Ross urged the Vikings to exercise Addison’s fifth-year option, which would schedule $17.5 million guaranteed to Addison for the 2027 season — worth more than his entire four-year, $13.4 million rookie deal.

    Cap Space Work

The Vikings have a lot of decisions to make to get under the cap and have a little room to add some free agents.
