Michigan football has spent more time recruiting the state of Texas in recent years. Last cycle, the Wolverines brought in three players from the Lone Star State — wide receiver Andrew Marsh, offensive tackle Ty Haywood, and cornerback Jayden Sanders. Thus far, the maize and blue have one pledge from Texas in wide receiver Jaylen Pile, but they’re certainly looking for much more.
There are a litany of top targets who hail from Texas who have reciprocal interest in the Wolverines — from offensive linemen such as Felix Ojo, John Turntine III, and Zaden Krempin; to several defensive backs, ranging from Jordan Deck, Chace Calicut, and Donovan Webb. Webb was one of Michigan’s high-priority targets who made it to Ann Arbor this past weekend for an official visit, the second time the 2026 Frisco (Tx.) Panther Creek four-star safety was on campus.
On Monday, Webb spoke to WolverinesWire about the visit, what stood out, and what he’s looking for in his school of choice. As he considers Kansas State, LSU, and Notre Dame, there were multiple things that impressed Webb on his venture north.
Here is everything he told us about his official to Ann Arbor.
What was your biggest takeaway from your visit to Ann Arbor?
The biggest takeaway was the strength and conditioning presentation. They not only told us how they help with performance, but they showed us. We were able to move around and do different things in the weight room that allowed us to see what it actually feels like going through their training.
I also liked the player development presentation. It really made me think about what my life will be like as college athlete and how they’ll help me prepare for life after ball. I felt like Michigan doesn’t just talk about it, they are about it! They proved how they’re a good fit for what I’m trying to do and the goals I’d like to accomplish as a college athlete.
What did you learn about Michigan that you hadn’t learned before?
I learned that Michigan is the most winningest team in college football.
What was your favorite part of the visit?
My favorite part of the visit was meeting with Coach Moore. He shared his story with me and my family. We also talked about the football program and Jordan shoes. I felt like I could relate to him, and I could tell that he loves his players and wants them to succeed in football and in life.
How did the visit grow your connection with LaMar Morgan?
I feel like I’ve always had a personal connection to Morgan. He’s also been open and honest with me throughout this process. This weekend I was able to spend time with him, Coach Stokes, and Coach Hawkins, and talk ball. We watched film and they explained how they plan to use me in the secondary. They see me playing in the nickel or FS spot, similar to Daxton Hill. All the coaches were great. Even the ones who won’t coach me. It felt like a family for real.
What will be the deciding factors in choosing your college?
I’m looking for a program and a coach who has experience coaching players like me and can also help further my development. Team culture is important, as well as how successful the team has been in the past. I’m paying close attention to the academics and the strength and conditioning programs. Depth charts are also something I’m keeping in mind. I want an opportunity to contribute early. Overall, I’m looking for a personal fit.
What does your timeline look like?
I’ll take my final visit to Notre Dame June 20th. I plan to commit to a school soon after and announce my commitment on July 2nd.
