Jayden Quaintance could potentially return during NCAA Tournament, per report

The Kentucky Wildcats might just be on the verge of getting Jayden Quaintance back at some point in the postseason.

According to KSR’s Jack Pilgrim, there’s optimism at UK that Quaintance could return to practice soon if his upcoming strength test goes well. The test will gauge how healthy Quaintance’s surgically repaired knee is after swelling in that knee led to him missing the last two months of action.

If all goes well, then there’s a chance that Quaintance can return at some point during the NCAA Tournament, which begins March 17.

“The 6-10, 255-pound forward has a strength test in the coming days that could get him cleared with his swelling under control and growing optimism surrounding his status,” Pilgrim wrote. “The training staff has gotten his knee to a good place, and they have some backup options to try that could help expedite his return. While there are still significant benchmarks left to clear, there is a push for the potential lottery pick to suit up in the NCAA Tournament.”

While I would still assume Quaintance does not play again for the Wildcats, it’s good to hear there’s at least some chance of him returning during the NCAA Tournament. But again, after his long rehab process from the torn ACL and then missing another two months of action due to swelling, it’s best for the BBN to not get its hopes up on Quaintance playing meaningful minutes again this season, especially since he’s still widely expected to be a first-round NBA Draft pick.

Here’s to hoping that a miracle happens and Jayden Quaintance suits up again for Kentucky Basketball.
