Iowa women’s basketball’s (10-2, 1-0 Big Ten) second loss of the season forced the Hawkeyes to slide in the latest USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll. Iowa slipped a pair of spots to No. 14 nationally, earning 335 points from the voters.
The Hawkeyes suffered a 90-64 loss at the hands of No. 1 UConn last Saturday from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y., as part of the Shark Beauty Women’s Champions Classic.

While the team actually shot pretty well (25-for-51 from the floor, 8-for-17 from 3-point territory, and 6-for-8 from the free-throw line) against UConn, the Hawkeyes’ undoing was their season-high 26 turnovers, which led to a whopping 41 Husky points off turnovers.
There are seven other Big Ten programs ranked inside the latest Coaches Poll, including No. 4 UCLA, No. 6 Maryland, No. 8 Michigan, No. 16 USC, No. 19 Ohio State, No. 21 Michigan State, and No. 24 Nebraska. Washington was the lone program to fall out of the Top 25 rankings this week, and now joins Oregon among the Big Ten teams receiving votes.
