Indiana Fever Rally Behind Kelsey Mitchell Ahead of Major Event originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
Caitlin Clark has been the driving force for the Indiana Fever this season. The way the team struggles mightily without her is a clear testament to this fact.
Clark missed five games in May due to a quad injury, and she is now nursing a groin issue that has cost her two contests thus far. The Fever have gone 4-3 in these seven games, which, all things considered, is a pretty respectable record without their best player on the floor.
The Fever secured a 94-86 win on Friday against the Dallas Wings despite Clark’s absence, and this was thanks in large part to Kelsey Mitchell. The 5-foot-8 guard went off for a season-high 32 points on 11-of-17 shooting, to go along with three rebounds, seven assists and four triples in the victory.
Mitchell has been integral to Indiana’s success this season, and she’s stepped up in a major way with Clark out of commission. This is exactly why she is now well on her way to her third straight All-Star appearance.
The Fever took to social media on Saturday to remind supporters that today is their last chance to vote for Mitchell for the All-Star Game in Indianapolis on July 19.
“Kelsey Mitchell is ready to bring the action to All-Star 💥 voting ends today, let’s send Kelz to #WNBAAllStar2025 🗳️” the Fever posted on X.

The WNBA released the first returns of fan voting last week, and Mitchell was ranked seventh with 277,664 votes. If the votes keep coming in at this pace, Mitchell will be an All-Star starter, alongside Fever teammates Aliyah Boston and Lexie Hull.
Clark, on the other hand, was the top vote-getter in the first returns with 515,993, and it appears that she will be one of two All-Star captains who will get to pick her team. Clark could potentially select all three of her Fever teammates as starters for her All-Star squad.
