Former Ohio State hoops star has game for ages in NBA Summer League

    -

In case you’ve forgotten with all the struggles the Ohio State basketball program has had over the last few seasons, there are indeed some pretty good players that have come through Columbus recently and are still doing some great things in the NBA.

Take former player Brice Sensabaugh, for instance. He had a very productive year at Ohio State, making the Big Ten All-Freshman team by averaging 16.3 points per contest. He declared for the 2023 NBA draft after his freshman season. Sensabaugh was drafted by the Utah Jazz with the No. 28 selection and has since been carving out a nice little niche for himself, so much so that he became a key contributor last season, averaging 10.9 points per contest while appearing in 71 games.

For some reason, Sensabaugh is playing in the developmental NBA Summer League — most likely so he can continue to hone his skills — and did nothing to hurt himself on Monday night. All the Florida native did was set a Jazz Summer League record by pouring in 37 points in a 112-111 win over the Memphis Grizzlies. Even more impressive is that Sensabaugh piled up that many points on just 14 shots.

He went 6-of-9 from beyond the arc and 9-of-14 from the field. He also got to the line quite a bit, sinking 13-of-14 from the charity stripe. He also pulled down four rebounds. Quite a day indeed.

There’s little doubt that Sensabaugh will again be a big part of the Jazz’s plans this coming winter with performances like this, and he might just be hitting his stride and take a big step forward against the better competition. We’ll be here to follow his progress throughout the 2025-2026 season.
