Field of 96 golfers is seventh-most of all-time

    -

There Masters has been played 88 times, and over that nearly nine decades of history, there have only been seven fields larger than the 96 that are currently on the invite list in 2025.

If someone not already in the field wins this week’s Valero Texas Open, that’ll grow the list to 97 which would tie for fifth-most along with the 2007, 2014 and 2015 Masters Tournaments.

The largest Masters field was 110 in 1962, followed by 103 in 1966 (a field that had an astounding 26 amaters) and 101 in 1957. Those are the only three times the Masters field surpassed 100 golfers.

    Largest fields in Masters history

    1962: 110

1966: 103 (also had the most amateurs with 66)

1957: 101 (also had the most Americans with 90)

    2011: 99

    2007, 2014, 2015: 97

    Smallest fields in Masters history

There were just 42 golfers at Augusta National in each of the 1938 and 1942 Masters.
