Barco made the permanent switch to Strasbourg last summer after a successful loan stint last season, and has reinvented himself in Ligue 1.

Chelsea and Liam Rosenior interested in Valentin Barco
Chelsea are known to be looking for a new midfielder this summer as they look to ease the burden on Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo.
However, they could also be looking for another left back if they opt against extending Marc Cucurella’s current deal which will have two years left in the summer.
Barco has put in a series of impressive performances for Strasbourg.
Barco can play both positions, and Brassel has reported Rosenior was behind the change of position, and is interested in reuniting with the 21-year-old.

“It’s come from Liam Rosenior, actually,” he told talkSPORT.
“I think it really underlines how good Rosenior is with individual players.
“What he’s been able to do to Moreira, Barco, who I know they’re interested in. I know Chelsea and Rosenior are interested in him.”
“And actually, to a growing extent, I think you can say Martial Godo, who’s been increasingly good in the last couple of months.”
Argentine impressing at Strasbourg
Barco’s performances have been impressive in France this season, and the stats certainly back how important he’s been.
He’s created the joint most big chances for Strasbourg this season with nine, whilst he also ranks first in ball touches with 1271, and second for successful passes with 812.

Barco also sits in the top two for distance covered, duals won and successful tackles, outlining how good he’s been this season.
It will be interesting to see if Chelsea decide to pursue a move, but if Barco carries on his good form he will also attract interest from other clubs.
