The Miami Dolphins have told teams calling about wide receiver Jaylen Waddle that they have “no interest in trading him,” according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
Earlier this week, a couple reports indicated the New York Giants are eyeing Waddle as a target ahead of the Nov. 4 trade deadline.
Waddle, 26, is the Dolphins’ clear-cut No. 1 wide receiver following the loss of Tyreek Hill to a season-ending knee injury. There’s also a strong chance that Hill won’t return to Miami in 2026, making Waddle an especially valuable long-term asset for the Dolphins.
Dolphins general manager Chris Grier has long been a proponent of answering the phone anyway. Earlier this year, he told reporters that he had no interest in pursuing a trade involving Hill. But he added a caveat.
“If someone wants to come and give me two first round picks, then we’d consider it,” Grier said.
It’d likely take that kind of haul to keep Grier on the phone in talks involving Waddle. With his job presumably hanging by a thread, the Dolphins executive is likely in no hurry to make deals for future draft capital that hurt the team in the present. Sending Waddle out of Miami would unquestionably signal the start of a full-scale rebuild.
In his report, Rapoport noted that the Dolphins are much more likely to engage in trade talks involving their three veteran pass rushers: Bradley Chubb, Matthew Judon, and Jaelan Phillips. According to Dianna Russini of The Athletic, the Dolphins are “getting lots of calls” about Chubb and Phillips.
