Detroit Red Wings ride rookies to 2nd straight win, beat Seattle Kraken, 4-2

    -

The Detroit Red Wings celebrated a rookie’s first goal and assist in the first of a three-game home stand.

The Wings came into the outing on Tuesday, Nov. 18, buoyed by their best team performance of the season. They had energy and pace against the Seattle Kraken at Little Caesars Arena, overcoming an early deficit to play with the lead most of the game. The Kraken pulled their goalie with 2:05 to play, the Wings spent some of that time passing the puck amongst themselves, and ended up with a 4-2 victory when Dylan Larkin found the empty net with 29.5 seconds to play for his 600th career point.

The victory improved the Wings to 12-7-1 and put them alone atop the Atlantic Division, a point up on the Boston Bruins. Next up, the Wings continue their three-game homestand with a visit from the New York Islanders (10-7-2) on Thursday (7 p.m., FanDuel Sports Network Detroit).

Detroit Red Wings center Nate Danielson (29) receives congratulations from center Emmitt Finnie (58) after scoring in the second period against the Seattle Kraken at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit on Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2025.

    Nate the great

Rookie Nate Danielson, a Wings’ first-round pick in 2023, had a second period to remember, earning his first career NHL goal and then his first career assist to help the Wings exit the period with a lead. Goalie Cam Talbot made a big stop on Brandon Montour to help preserve the lead during a Kraken power play early in the third period.

The Wings played a solid first period, but so did the Kraken, with Joey Daccord matching Talbot save for save. When Simon Edvinsson was sent to the penalty box for roughing at 17:50, each team had nine shots on net. The Kraken struck during that stretch, with Jordan Eberle connecting on Michigan alumnus Matty Beniers’ feed in the last minute of play of the period.

Lucas Raymond extended his point streak to five games when he fired a shot early in the second period that slipped beneath Daccord 1:19 into the second period. Five seconds later, it was Danielson who celebrated a goal. Fellow rookie Axel Sandin Pellikka took the shot, Mason Appleton got a piece of it and Danielson got the deflection as a keepsake.

Danielson celebrated putting the puck in Seattle’s net again three minutes later, after maneuvering around Adam Larsson, but the Kraken successfully challenged rookie Emmitt Finnie was offside, leaving the score at 2-1. The Kraken went on to pull even at 7:26, when Ryker Evans took a shot through traffic that eluded Talbot.

Jani Nyman’s drive to Detroit’s net on a scoring attempt ended up with him sliding into the crease and dislodging Talbot and Detroit’s net, earning a goalie interference call that put the Wings on a power play. Finnie converted at 10:56 when he took a pass from Danielson and sniped the puck into Seattle’s net.
