The Dallas Cowboys are set to host Cal QB Chandler Rogers for a workout on April 4 as they continue evaluating potential roster additions.
A quarterback from the University of California with the last name of Rogers is preparing to work out for the Dallas Cowboys.
That’s right, former California quarterback and prospect Chandler Rogers, per Clarence Hill of DLLS, is scheduled to work out for the team on April 4. Rogers made just one start last season for the Golden Bears, appeared in eight games total, and finished with 117 yards passing and one rushing touchdown.
The 6-foot 200-pound signal-caller played for five different teams during his collegiate career, with his best stint occurring in 2023 when he returned home and played for the University of North Texas. During his lone season with the Mean Green, Rogers completed 262 of 422 pass attempts (62.1%) for 3,382 yards, 29 touchdowns, and just five interceptions while adding 180 yards and four touchdowns on the ground. He finished with a 5-5 record as a starter.
Before transferring to North Texas, Rogers played for Louisiana–Monroe from 2021 to 2022, appearing in 24 games and making 18 starts. He also played at Blinn College in 2020 and began his career at Southern Miss in 2019.
A native of Mansfield, Texas, Rogers played football at Lake Ridge High School, where he threw for 3,497 passing yards and 34 passing touchdowns, with 17 interceptions. He also rushed for 2,464 yards and scored 29 rushing touchdowns. Rogers elected to play at Southern Miss as a three-star recruit with additional offers from Air Force, Seton Hill, Southern, and Texas Southern.
The Cowboys are in need of a backup quarterback for Dak Prescott, who is coming back from a season-ending hamstring injury. The team lost Cooper Rush to free agency, and Trey Lance remains in the open market.
The Cowboys will also meet with Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers on April 2 at the University of Texas’ Pro Day.
