Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes spoke with reporters after the Week 6 victory over the Detroit Lions, reflecting on becoming the fastest player in NFL history to reach 300 career touchdown passes when you include the postseason.
“It’s extremely cool. I’ve been blessed. I always say it and I mean it, ‘I’ve been blessed.’ I got drafted here in Kansas City, a great community, a great ownership and then getting one of the best football coaches of all-time and some of the greatest players of all-time around me.” said Mahomes, “It makes my job a lot easier when I’m able to throw to some great ones and let’scontinue it, let’s have some fun and we’ve got a long career ahead and let’s see how many we can get to.”
After his six-yard pass to Xavier Worthy late in the first quarter, Mahomes reached the milestone in just 139 games, breaking the mark that was previously held by Aaron Rodgers, who tossed his 300th in his 147th career game.
Mahomes finished Sunday night’s victory, completing 22 of 30 passes for 257 yards and three passing touchdowns. He also rushed for 34 yards and a touchdown.
