Chelsea conclude their pre-season campaign against AC Milan at Stamford Bridge this afternoon.
The West Londoners have had a short preparation for the Premier League season, following an extended break after the Club World Cup. Having been successful in that summer tournament, optimism is high that the Blues can enjoy a successful campaign.
AC Milan take on English opponents for the fourth time this pre-season. After clashes with Arsenal and Liverpool in Asia, the Rossoneri drew 1-1 with Leeds United in Dublin on Saturday. Heavy rotation from that side is expected this afternoon.
Neither Nicolas Jackson or Christopher Nkunku are expected to feature for Chelsea as the forward duo consider exits. Both are exploring their options following the summer arrivals of Liam Delap and Joao Pedro.
Enzo Maresca has a headache defensively, following the news that Levi Colwill will miss the majority of the upcoming campaign. The centre-back has undergone successful surgery after an ACL injury in training.
With Wesley Fofana also out, Trevoh Chalobah is seto to be partnered by Tosin Adarabioyo or new signing Jorrel Hato centrally. Despite Colwill’s injury, Renato Veiga is still likely to leave West London this summer.
Chelsea predicted XI: Sanchez; James, Chalobah, Hato, Cucurella; Caicedo, Fernandez; Neto, Palmer, Gittens; Pedro.
