Another day, another Cleveland Browns’ splash signing as Cleveland continues to work their way through an impressive start to their offseason.
The Browns knew that they needed to rebuild their offensive line and do so in a very efficient way. They got on the board right away with two strategic acquisitions in Tytus Howard and Zion Johnson. They followed that up with a planned re-signing of their offensive lineman, Tevon Jenkins. They then took advantage of a major opportunity with Elgton Jenkins.

Jenkins became available as a cap casualty in Green Bay, and the Browns swooped right in to acquire him. Here are five things to know about the Browns’ new center.
1. Injuries are a part of the story
There is more to the story than just a great free agent pick-up by the Browns. While it was portrayed publicly as just a cap casualty move by the Packers, Jenkins was waived by Green Bay due to a failed physical. While that news dropped after Cleveland made the signing, it was known in NFL circles and was a result of his season-ending ankle injury. He is coming off a fractured fibula that he suffered against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 10 of the 2025 season.
2. Pass Blocking Savant
There is a common theme with all of Cleveland’s acquisitions as these players are all stellar in the pass game. This shouldn’t come as a surprise. The Browns’ identity is going to be way different than what we became accustomed to under the prior regime.

Jenkins has a 72.5 pass blocking grade according to Pro Football Focus, which ranks him 7th out of 40 qualifying centers across the league.
3. Top-of-the-Line College Prospect
Jenkins was a member of the 2019 draft class and he2019 NFL Draft class, and in that class, he was Mel Kiper Jr.’s No. 1 center prospect in the entire draft. At Mississippi State, Jenkins showed versatility as he played at every position on the offensive line but settled in at the center position. He was a second-round pick for the Packers in 2019.
4. Wasted No Time
Jenkins wasted no time when he entered the league, gaining a starting spot and keeping it. As it often goes in the NFL, an injury opened up a spot at left guard. Jenkins slid in and never gave it back. He became an integral piece of the Packers’ offensive line from his second game on.

5. Versatility Up Front
The versatility that Jenkins displayed in his time at Mississippi State carried over to his time in the NFL. In that first year, he primarily played the left guard position but registered snaps at four of the five offensive line positions. He played snaps at left tackle, right guard, and right tackle.
In his second season, he made starts at left guard and center while having significant playing time at both tackle positions.
This obviously came in Jenkins’ youth, but if Cleveland gets into an injury pinch next season, Jenkins could be a guy that they move around to fill holes.
