Browns must call Commanders about Terry McLaurin

    -

The Cleveland Browns have a chance to strike their annual deal for a wide receiver, this time potentially landing a star in Terry McLaurin from the Washington Commanders.

It’s been reported that McLaurin will not be attending mandatory minicamp, per Dianna Russini of The Athletic. McLaurin is currently frustrated with the contract negotiation process and will most likely not report until a new contract is agreed upon.

The Washington Commanders bolstered their wide receiver room this offseason with the acquisition of 49ers standout Deebo Samuel. Upon the trade, Samuel’s contract was reworked to guarantee him $17 million in the 2025 season. With a solid core of Noah Brown, Michael Gallup, and Luke McCaffrey surrounding the new wideout, will the Commanders want to extend McLaurin?

The lack of firepower in the Cleveland Browns’ wide receiver room is no secret. When looking at the roster past star wideout Jerry Jeudy, Cleveland has little to no experience or past production from its wide receiver corps. McLaurin also has proven success no matter who the quarterback is, which is a recurring issue in Cleveland.

McLaurin’s ability to line up both inside and outside gives the Browns much-needed versatility in their receiver alignments. Known for his reliable hands and excellent body control, McLaurin consistently makes difficult catches look routine. His toughness and high-character makeup, combined with an ability to win in contested catch situations, make him an ideal weapon against the physical defenses of the AFC North.
