This week, Chiefs Wire’s Ed Easton Jr. spoke to Atlanta Falcons running back Bijan Robinson about preparing for College Colors Day and the many Texas Longhorns alums on the Kansas City Chiefs and around the NFL.
“It feels great, man, and I think that we were all on the same team, like 3 or 4 years ago, a lot of the guys in the league right now. So to see them in the league, have fun, be successful, and be an impact player for their team speaks a lot about what we did in the program, what Coach Sark (Steve Sarkisian) did with us, especially with Coach (Tashard) Choice. My whole running back room is in the NFL, so I think that’s such a blessing and a huge accomplishment that they’ve done. Taking it year by year and seeing new guys in the league every single year. We were trying to build that program to high expectations, we’re doing it the right way, and how we produce and let guys come out into this league.”
Robinson’s former Longhorns teammate, Xavier Worthy, played in Texas from 2021 to 2023. After being drafted in the first round, he made an immediate impact with the Chiefs. In 2024, he collected nine touchdowns, six receiving and three rushing. He finished 10th among all rookies in yards from scrimmage with 742.
Veteran defensive lineman Charles Omenihu starred at Texas from 2015 to 2018 and joined the Chiefs before the 2023 season, contributing to the team’s Super Bowl title that year. Since joining Kansas City in 2023, Omenihu has collected eight sacks in 17 games.
College Colors Day is a national celebration encouraging fans, students, and alumni to show their school pride by wearing their university’s colors and apparel to mark the beginning of the college sports season.
